  6. WHAT AMIGAS ICON DELUXE WORKS ON:
  7.    I think IconDeluxe now works on all Amigas, but I am using a 68000 A500
  8. with 2.04 to write Icon Deluxe, so I can't be sure...  I hear that it works
  9. on a large variety of system configurations, including some very non-
  10. standard and unstable ones.  If it fails for anyone, on any system
  11. configuration, please let me know so I can get it working for everybody.  I

  23. INSTALLATION:
  24.    IconDeluxe can be installed using the install icon.  However, you must
  25. have Commodore's Install utility for the script to work.
  26.  
  27.    If you don't have the Install utility, you can still install Icon Deluxe
  28. by placing the files IconDeluxe and IconDeluxe.guide wherever you want them
  29. (I recommend SYS:Tools).
  30.    You must have AmigaGuide or MultiView for online help to work.  If not,
  31. you can open a shell and type:

  33. MakeLink SYS:Utilities/AmigaGuide C:More
  34.  
  35. or replace C:More with your favorite text viewer.  If you do this, you'll
  36. probably want to use a text editor to strip out the AmigaGuide
  37. instructions.  I could've done it myself, but most people have AmigaGuide,
  38. and I didn't want to increase the distribution archive size.  If you don't
  39. feel like doing it, and need the text version, just say so in your
  40. registration and I'll put the plain text docs on your disk.

  44. UNDER 3.0+ YOUR PALETTE MIGHT BE WRONG, OR ICON DELUXE MIGHT CHANGE SOME OF
  45. YOUR PREFERENCES COLORS:
  46.    If so, read "3.0+ Color Management" in IconDeluxe.guide.  It tells you
  47. why this happens and how change Icon Deluxe's preference tool types to
  48. prevent this from happening.

  52. COPYRIGHT:
  53.    The registered version is copyrighted and may not be distributed, so
  54. please do not allow it to be pirated.  Ten dollars isn't much, so anybody
  55. who wants or uses it can afford it.  If you use IconDeluxe, please register
  56. and encourage me to write more cheap but high-quality Amiga software.  I
  57. enjoy doing it!
  58.    The public version is freely distributable, but modification of the
  59. program or distribution of any modified version is prohibited and
  60. constitutes a violation of the copyright.
  61.    The public version used to be full-featured and was not "cripple-ware,"
  62. but I found out that someone had cracked it to remove the save delay, and
  63. distributed it.  I was only asking $10 to start with, and I never thought
  64. that anybody could be that cheap!  Because of this, I have been forced to
  65. cripple the public version so that it can no longer save.  I hate crippled
  66. demos and didn't want to do this.  That's why I put the save delay in the
  67. first place: I wanted this program to be available to everybody so that
  68. people who like the program but don't want to spend $10 can use it, but
  69. have to live with the delay.  Those who do register can enjoy the program
  70. without the delay.  I apologize for this change, and I realize that this
  71. only results from the actions of a few people, but I can't tolerate that
  72. happening at all.  Piracy hurts everybody.

  76. REGISTERING ICON DELUXE:
  77.   If you like Icon Deluxe, then you can reward me for the hundreds of hours
  78. I spent writing it by sending a small contribution of $10 (or equivalent in
  79. other currencies), to cover the cost of floppies and postage for two or
  80. three mailings and so I can get a little something back for all my work.
  81. If you have done so already, I would like to express my thanks to you, as
  82. that $10 fed me for a week.  If you have not registered, think of all the
  83. time I spent writing this for you, and how nice it would be to help out a
  84. poor student who's struggling to get by.  In return, I will send you the
  85. registered version of Icon Deluxe, which does not open the about window at
  86. startup as does the public version.  I'll also send updates to all
  87. registered users for bug fixes and added features.  For bug reports or

  90. longer offering the source code.
